* Johnny falls in love with Sylvia, and they spend a romantic evening together. They talk about their dreams and hopes, and Johnny feels a sense of happiness and belonging that he has never felt before. They get caught by the police.
* When the police take the boys back to their hotel room, they discover the money that Dally had given them hidden under the mattress. They are forced to reveal their true identities, and Johnny is arrested.
