Oh Duty, thou most thankless of the chores,
Demanding fealty, loyalty, and more.
From dawn till dusk you are my relentless guide,
To follow your demands is quite a ride.
My conscience pricks, my patience you do test,
Yet still, I must confess, you're my best guest.
For though your presence can be quite a pain,
You keep me on the path from going insane.
You urge me to be punctual, organized, and true,
To keep my promises, no matter what I do.
You make me strive for excellence in all that I pursue,
And keep my focus when distractions come into view.
Even when I rebel, you refuse to budge,
Insistent that I follow your righteous smudge.
Your rules and regulations, firm and strong,
Ensure I don't stray where I don't belong.
So here's to Duty, the stern but steadfast friend,
Who nudges me towards virtue time and time again.
Though you may not be popular, I honor your cause,
For without you, I'd be an errant wind, without pause.
Thank you, dear Duty, for keeping me in check,
Reminding me of purpose and what I must respect.
With you as my guide, I will tread the right path,
And for your unwavering presence, I am truly grateful.
