Susan was a gift to Queen Elizabeth II on her 18th birthday in 1944. She was the foundation of the Queen's corgi line, with all of the Queen's subsequent corgis being descendants of Susan.
Susan lived to the ripe old age of 13 and died in 1959. She was buried at the Sandringham estate, the Queen's private country home.
The Queen's love for Pembroke Welsh Corgis began with Susan, and her legacy lives on through the generations of corgis that followed.
