What does pomp and circumstance mean?

Ostentation or display of wealth or power, especially in a manner that is considered vulgar or in bad taste.

Pretentious or overblown behavior or language, especially when associated with a person or institution that is perceived as being self-important or lacking in substance.

Often used in a derogatory or critical sense, to suggest that something or someone is more superficial or showy than it seems on the surface.
