- Missing curfew: Ponyboy breaks his curfew by staying out late with Johnny. Darry is worried about Ponyboy's safety and is upset that he has disobeyed his rules.
- Fighting: Darry finds out that Ponyboy was involved in a fight with Bob, a Soc. Darry is angry that Ponyboy has gotten into a fight and worried about the consequences.
- Lying: Ponyboy lies to Darry about where he was and what he was doing when he was really with Johnny. Darry is upset that Ponyboy has lied to him and feels like he can't trust him.
