How much does a professional comedian make?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for comedians in the United States was $43,310 in May 2019. The top 10% earned more than $110,410, while the bottom 10% earned less than $21,260.

Comedians' salaries can vary widely depending on a number of factors, including their experience, popularity, and the type of comedy they perform. Stand-up comedians who perform in clubs and theaters typically earn more than those who work in smaller venues or as part of improv or sketch comedy troupes. Comedians who appear on television or in movies can also earn substantial salaries.

Some comedians also supplement their income by writing books, selling merchandise, or giving lectures.
