Comedy Clubs Near Allentown, Pennsylvania

Over the years, a number of temporary comedy clubs have opened in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Located on the Lehigh River in Lehigh County, Allentown is the state’s third most populous city. As a community with mostly working families, not many businesses cater to night owls. A number of comedy clubs, however, are only a short drive away. Centrally located near Philadelphia and New York City, nearby comedy clubs attract national comedians. Many of these clubs require a two-drink minimum, in addition to cover charges. As the covers often include dinner, it’s a good idea to call ahead for details and times.

  1. Comedy Cabaret

    • In Bristol, 37 minutes northwest of Allentown, the Comedy Cabaret is open every Friday and Saturday night. Located above Pocos, a casual Mexican style restaurant, many people arrive early for dinner and margaritas before the show. A minimum of three comedians perform at every show with a lineup of local and national stand-up comedians. Known for friendly service, a cheerful atmosphere, and rotating entertainment, the Comedy Cabaret has a strong local following. Food is not served during shows, but there’s a full bar with cocktail service. First-time guests are encouraged to arrive early for better seats.

    Comedy Works

    • Comedy Works in Bensalem is a one-hour drive from Allentown. The venue is handicapped accessible and seats up to 225 people. The show, one of the oldest comedy clubs in the Philadelphia region, was established in 1980 and opened in Bensalem in 1990. The covers per person are more expensive for early shows that include a fixed dinner menu and free parking, and no drink minimums are required. The age minimum is 13, with adult supervision required, and 17- to 21-year-olds must present identification to enter. For shows that don’t include dinner, a snack menu is available. The show presents mostly house comedians who perform regularly.

    40 Below Nightclub and Lounge

    • About 13 minutes from Allentown, the 40 Below Nightclub and Lounge presents a rotating comedy show during the week. Local comedians perform early in the night, followed by DJ dance parties that go late into the night. With reservations, a private VIP section is available. A dress code of no hoodies, baggy clothing and work boots is enforced, and smoking is permitted on the premises.
