What are examples of humor in The Tempest?

1. Trinculo's encounter with Caliban: Trinculo, a jester, mistakes Caliban for a monster and tries to hide from him. Caliban, thinking Trinculo is a spirit, tries to appease him by offering him food and drink. The scene is full of physical humor and wordplay.

2. Stephano's drunkenness: Stephano, the butler, gets drunk on the wine he finds in the shipwreck and becomes increasingly silly and irresponsible. He sings songs, dances, and makes jokes, much to the amusement of the other characters.

3. The plot to overthrow Prospero: Caliban conspires with Stephano and Trinculo to overthrow Prospero and take control of the island. Their plan is full of comedic blunders and mishaps, such as when they try to steal Prospero's magic books but end up getting caught in a trap.

4. The masque of the goddesses: Prospero conjures up a masque of goddesses to entertain Ferdinand and Miranda. The goddesses appear in beautiful costumes and sing and dance, creating a magical and awe-inspiring spectacle.

5. The reunion of Ferdinand and Miranda: After being separated by the shipwreck, Ferdinand and Miranda are finally reunited. Their joy and happiness at being together again is heartwarming and moving.
