How to Add Words to a Karaoke CD

Karaoke CDs are recorded on CD+Graphics, or CD+G, discs. CD+G discs cannot be burned or manipulated without special software or disk drives. A CD with instrumental songs needs lyrics for use as an official karaoke CD. To add the songs yourself, use special software and blank karaoke CD+G discs. Software applications for this purpose include Power CD+G Creator, Karaoke Music Maker and MicroStudio.

  • Blank CD+G disc(s)
  • Instrumental/karaoke songs
  • Karaoke creating software

Instructions

      Download a karaoke CD+G-creating software application. Run your software.

      Insert the instrumental CD into your disk drive.

      Open the rip tab or window in your CD+G software application. Select the songs to be used and click the "rip" button. This will save the instrumental versions on your hard drive in a format that can be edited by your CD+G software application.

      Open the lyrics "synchronization" screen on your karaoke-creating software application. Select the song you are adding words to.

      Find the song lyrics on a lyrics website. Copy and paste the lyrics into the text area on your software application.

      Play the song back as you press the key designated by your software to synchronize the lyrics with the song. Refer to your application's specific instructions for detailed information on the synchronization process.

      Repeat the previous steps for any other songs to which you're adding words.
