Who made state motto?
The state mottos of the United States are the official mottos of the various states of the United States. Although most state mottos were adopted relatively recently—only three date from before 1900 and the majority (45 of 50) were adopted since 1959—nearly half include words, themes, and images drawn from their original colonial charters and seals and reflect enduring aspects of their unique cultural and physical heritage. However, there are no rules as to what can or cannot be incorporated into a state motto, resulting in wide variations in structure, substance, and length.
