What are you tested on to qualify sing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir?

Musical Ability:

1. Vocal Range: The ability to sing comfortably within the range of A2-G5 for women and C3-A4 for men.

2. Tone Quality: A beautiful, clear, and resonant voice with good intonation and breath support.

3. Musicality: Demonstrated ability to read music, follow a conductor, and sing with good phrasing and expression.

4. Ear Training: The ability to accurately match pitch and sing in harmony.

5. Sight-Reading: The ability to read and sing new music accurately on sight.

General Qualifications:

1. Age: Must be at least 30 years old.

2. Church Membership: Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in good standing.

3. Residence: Must live within a reasonable distance of Salt Lake City, Utah, to attend rehearsals and performances.

4. Commitment: Must be able to commit to a rigorous rehearsal and performance schedule, including weekly rehearsals, Sunday services, and occasional tours.

5. Character and Conduct: Must be a person of good character and conduct, in accordance with the teachings and standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
