Where is syllabic and melismatic singing sung?

Syllabic singing is a style of singing in which each syllable of text is sung to one note. It is most commonly found in Western classical music, hymns, and folk songs.

Melismatic singing is a style of singing in which multiple notes are sung to a single syllable of text. It is most commonly found in Byzantine chant, Middle Eastern music, and Indian classical music.

However, both syllabic and melismatic singing can be found in many different cultures and musical traditions around the world.
