Before breaking out as a music producer, Colby was first a DJ. He began his career as a club promoter in Dallas. Then, he moved to Los Angeles to attend college, where he began DJing at local clubs and house parties. After dropping out of college, he moved to Las Vegas, where his break came when he caught the attention of several industry professionals while performing at the Palms Casino Resort. In 2008, he began working with the production duo The Cataracs.
In 2010, Colby co-wrote and co-produced the song "Like a G6" for Far East Movement. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 4× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
In 2011, he co-wrote and co-produced the song "Work Hard, Play Hard" for Rihanna. The song peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 2× Platinum by the RIAA.
He has also worked with other artists such as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, David Guetta, and will.i.am. In addition to his production work, Colby has also released several of his own songs, including "I Like You" (featuring The Cataracs), "Goin' Out Tonight" (featuring Pitbull), and "Let's Get Wild" (featuring Lil Jon).
In 2015, Colby's debut studio album, "Too Late For Apologies", was released through Interscope Records. The album features guest appearances from Pitbull, Christina Milian, and Travis Barker.
