The Hanunuo Mangyans use many instruments in their songs and dances, mostly gongs, bamboo instruments and a single gong instrument similar to the gong agung of Java and Bali. The gangsa consists of a gong suspended on a wooden stand, and the gabbang and the tongatong is suspended from a rattan frame.
Bamboo instruments include the tongali (also known as the bamboo flute) and the bamboo zither, as well as the bamboo xylophone (with metal keys) known as the tongatong patpat or tongatong putok.
The Hanunuo make a small banjo which they call bangibang, the body made from a large nut. They also have a mouth harp, with a bamboo string, known as the sigid.
