The Best Colleges for Audio Engineering

Attempting to list the best audio engineering schools is a bit like attempting to list the best types of ice cream. Each school has its respective strengths and weaknesses, and each person will have a different "perfect fit" according to his geographical, financial and educational needs. With that said, five top top colleges can be identified that provide four year programs in audio engineering. Though these schools are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, they all boast excellent facilities and were all featured in the Princeton Review's "Best 371 Colleges of 2010."
  1. Hampton University

    • Hampton University offers a Bachelor of Science in Music Engineering Technology, which emphasizes audio and electrical engineering within the context of a liberal arts education. Students of this program are all Music majors and are admitted by audition. Facilities include a 24-track analog and digital studio, as well as an eight-track analog studio. As of 2010, tuition was $16,238, plus room and board.

    Ithaca College School of Music
