How to Make Karaoke Songs With Mac OS X

Karaoke songs are music tracks without the vocals, so that amateur people can sing along with the music, and not have their voices overridden by the recording artist's vocal track. There are karaoke machines available for purchase, but they can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Plus, you'll have to purchase karaoke track CDs, which will also add up costs quickly. There is an alternative solution, however, because now you can make karaoke tracks at home for free.

Click "File>Open" and find the song you want to convert into a karaoke song.

    • 3

Choose "Edit>Select>All" from the toolbar menu at the top of the window.

    • 4

Click the small, black downward-facing triangle in the track menu. Choose "Split Stereo Track" from the drop-down menu that appears.

    • 5

Select the entire bottom track by clicking an empty space in the track menu. The bottom track should be highlighted, while the top track should not.

    • 6

Click "Effect>Invert" from the toolbar menu.

    • 7

Click the small, black downward-facing triangle from each of the track menus (one at a time), and choose "Mono" from the drop-down menu.

    • 8

Click "File>Export as WAV." Save the file on your desktop. You can now burn this file to a CD and put it in your karaoke machine or CD player.
