How to Make a Track With Fantom X6

Roland's Fantom X line of keyboard workstations provides users with almost a gigabyte of internal memory, and expandable RAM (Random Access Memory). The workstation's ample space and processing power, enables users to create complex projects with the keyboard's built-in sampler. Before you begin recording tracks on your Fantom X6, take some time to familiarize yourself with the X6's track recording procedures.

      Power on your Fantom X6, and then press the keyboard's "Song Edit" button. Press the "F3" button to erase any data from your X6's temporary memory, and the press "F8" to confirm your decision.

      Press the X6's "Rec" button to access the Realtime Rec Standby menu. Press "F2" if you wish to record the steps of a pattern -- realtime recording is set by default.

      Navigate down to the "Count In" field. Turn the value knob to set your recording's count-in mode. Select the "1 Measure" to have the X6's metronome play one measure before recording starts, or select the "2 Meas" option to have it play two measures ahead of recording. Use the "Wait Note" option if you want to start recording as soon as your first note is played.

      Press "F8" to begin recording your track. Press the "Stop" button after you're done recording your track.
