How to Record a CD With Equal Volume

Recording CDs is a great way to play a mix of songs in your car or home, but it can be frustrating when you have to crank the volume for one song and then get assaulted by the next. Recording a CD with equal volume is the way to solve this problem, so every song on your mix sounds the same. Finally, you can stop running to the volume control every time the music stops.

Download a program that can burn CDs, like iTunes (for Mac and PC) or Windows Media Player (for PC only); iTunes is available for free from Apple's website, and Windows Media Player is available for free from Microsoft's website.

Create a playlist of the songs you want on your CD. This can be done in iTunes by selecting "File" and "New Playlist," and then by adding songs to the playlist from your library. In Windows Media Player, you must select "Library," then "Playlists," then "Create Playlist," before you can add the desired songs.

Burn the CD in Windows Media Player, if this is the program you are using. Select "Tools," then "Options." Under the "Devices" tab, select the drive you are using with the CD, usually Drive D or higher. Under "Properties," select "Quality," then choose to "Apply volume leveling to music when it is burned." Then select "Start Burn" to record your CD.
