How to Use the Windows Sound Recorder to Record Audio From a Web Page

Windows Sound Recorder can be used to record, mix, edit and play sounds. It is a tool that can record anything played through the computer's microphone and is useful for making podcasts, recording music or making voice notes. There are a variety of other software options to choose from for recording audio, but Windows Sound Recorder is free, installed by default on Windows computers, and has everything necessary for basic recording.

Instructions

      Go to Start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage Audio Devices>Recording. If your microphone is working, it is listed here and says "working."

      Open Sound Recorder. It is found by clicking Start>All Programs>Accessories>Sound Recorder.

      Click "Record," open the Web page you want to record audio from and play the audio.

      Click "Stop Recording" once the audio has finished playing, and Sound Recorder will ask you to save the file.

      Play the file by browsing to the folder it was saved in and clicking it.
