Choose a place in your house that you feel would be perfect to make into your studio. It can be an office, or you can convert a garage or attic. Any empty or extra room that is not in use would make a perfect studio.
Buy a decent computer, if you do not already have one. This computer will need to have at least 4 GB of RAM and a powerful sound card.
Choose your recording software. There is plenty of professional recording and sequencing software to choose from, including Cubase, FL Studio, Logic Pro and Protools. These programs give you the ability to create and edit high-quality loops, tracks, and beats and are also used by many professional producers and recording artists.
Choose your instruments. For hip-hop music, you will probably need a MIDI keyboard or synthesizer and a drum machine. An example of a popular drum machine would be a Roland TR-808, which is known for creating low frequency electronic drum beats.
Choose a microphone. Condenser microphones are often used in recording studios due to their sensitivity and ability to pick up sounds but are also very delicate and require high amount of power to the diaphragm. You can also use a Dynamic microphone, which is less delicate, and does not require as much power. You will also need a preamp that controls the output of the mic.
Choose a pair of studio monitor speakers. These are the speakers you will use to play your recordings back. These should be placed at ear level on each side of the wall, but not directly in the corners or on their sides. You will also need to buy a pair of studio monitor headphones. These allow you to hear the smaller details of your audio tracks right in your ear, which helps with mixing.
