Connect a USB cable to the USB port on the rear of the POD. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB port on your computer. On laptops, the port is typically located on the left-hand side. On desktop machines, the port is typically located either on the front or rear panel.
Insert the installation disc into the computer disc drive. The disc will automatically play. Select "Install Drivers and POD Farm Software." POD Farm is the name of the software program that comes with the interface. When prompted, select "Next" and follow the subsequent prompts to complete the installation.
Open up Cubase. Double-click the Cubase icon your desktop. If you don't have a desktop shortcut, click "Start," "Programs" and select Cubase from the list, if using a PC. If using a Mac, open the "Applications" folder and select Cubase from there.
Click "Settings" on the top lefthand side of the Cubase interface. Select "Devices" from the drop-down menu. Select "POD USB Interface" from the drop-down menu. This assigns the POD USB audio interface as the primary audio interface. Cubase will automatically detect the POD interface from now on.

Plug an instrument cable into your guitar, plug the other end into the quarter-inch jack on the front of the POD. There are two jacks on the front; one has a guitar icon next to it and one has a headphone icon next to it. Use the guitar jack.
Play a note on the guitar. Observe the meter section of the Cubase interface. If the meter display flashes red, reduce the level of the audio interface signal by turning the "Output" dial on the top of the interface. Too much signal causes audio clipping, an undesirable form of distortion.
Click "Plugins" on the Cubase channel strip. Select "POD Farm." This opens up the POD Farm interface in Cubase. Select your sound by clicking on the amplifier and effect icons. Adjust the volume by moving the virtual sliders with your cursor.
