How to Record TD-9 V-Drums to a Tascam

The Roland TD-9 V-Drum unit is an electronic drum kit that utilizes the TD-9 Drum Sound Module, which features 50 preset drum kits and over 500 individual percussion sounds. In addition to its USB and MIDI connectivity, the Roland TD-9 V-Drum unit features two 1/4-inch outputs for stereo analog recording. The Tascam DP-004 is a portable four-track digital recording device. With two assignable 1/4-inch inputs for two-track simultaneous recording, the Tascam DP-400 can capture the TD-9 V-Drum's stereo signal.

Instructions

      Insert two instrument cables into the left and right 1/4-inch outputs on the back of the Roland TD-9 V-Drum sound module.

      Insert the opposite ends of the instrument cables into "Input A" and "Input B" on the back of the Tascam recording device.

      Press the "Assign" button on the Tascam to launch the "Input Assign" menu. Set "Track 1" to "IN A," set "Track 2" to "IN B" and press the "F1" button to exit the menu.

      Press the "REC" button on "Track 1" and "Track 2" to arm each channel for recording.

      Press the "Record" button on the transport bar, then press the "Play" button to begin recording on "Track 1" and "Track 2."

      Play the Roland TD-9 V-Drum unit. When you are finished, press the "Stop" button on the Tascam recording device.

      Press the "Play" button to listen to the recorded audio.
