How to Get Autotune VST to Work on Cakewalk Music Creator 5

Cakewalk Music Creator 5 is a digital-audio workstation that allows users to record and mix multiple tracks of audio. One of Cakewalk's downfalls is its lack of out-of-the-box Virtual Studio Technology (VST) plugin support. This leaves users unable to access VST effects, such as the popular Autotune pitch-correction software that is utilized on most modern pop songs. To enable VST support, Cakewalk users must download and install the Cakewalk VST Adapter. This adapter converts VST plugins to Cakewalk-friendly DirectX and DXi formats.

Instructions

    • 1

      Download the Cakewalk VST Adapter.

    • 2

Locate the Cakewalk VST Adapter installation file on the computer's hard drive and double-click the file to run the installer.

    • 3

Follow the onscreen instructions and click "OK" when the installer is finished.

    • 4

Click the "Start" menu and locate "Cakewalk VST Adapter 4" in the "Cakewalk" folder.

    • 5

Right-click "Cakewalk VST Adapter 4" and select "Run as Administrator."

    • 6

Click "Allow" when the system notification "An unidentified program wants access to your computer" appears onscreen.

    • 7

Follow the onscreen Cakewalk VST Adapter instructions to locate and convert the VST plugins on your hard drive.

    • 8

Open Cakewalk and find the track to which you want to apply the Autotune VST effect.

    • 9

Switch to the "Console" display and click the "FX" button to display the FX bins for each track.

    • 10

Locate the selected audio track's FX bin. Right-click the bin to open the pop-up menu and scroll to "VST plugins."

    • 11

Select the Autotune VST plugin to apply the effect to the track.
