Why does radio lose memory?

Car radios don't usually lose their memory. However, if the car battery is disconnected or dies, the presets may be cleared from memory. Many modern cars have a feature that allows presets to be saved even if the battery is removed. To check if your car has this feature, consult your car's manual.
