Assess your cheer squad's wants and needs. You have to know if your squad prefers rock, rap, or a combination of the two. Focus on fast music, about 136 to 144 beats per minute. Make sure it is music that you already listen to and consider fun.
Begin downloading the music. Your team captain needs to know what songs you want in your mix and who may have what music already downloaded to a source. If additional music is needed, it can be obtained through music downloading programs. Save the downloaded songs on a removable source, such as a memory stick.
Edit your mix. Many schools have music editing software available. If this is the case, you just need your memory stick with the songs that you are editing. If neither your school nor anyone on your squad has music editing software, you can download software. Music editing software ranges from free downloads to $200, depending on the program's capabilities.
Incorporate your mix into your routine to make sure they are an absolute fit.
