Highlight “Import” in the File menu of Guitar Pro. A submenu will appear with the different file types that can be opened by the program.
Select “ASCII…” from the submenu. ASCII text documents are the only format of text files that can be converted into an audio file. This is due to other text file formats containing additional text formatting information in the file. This is normally hidden from the user when using text editors, but makes it impossible for some programs to properly read the file.
Select the ASCII text document you want to convert in the “Open File” prompt. The music information in the file will be read by Guitar Pro and displayed on the screen.
Highlight “Export” in the File menu. A submenu will appear with the formats that Guitar Pro can save a music file as.
Select “WAVE…” from submenu. A “Save File” prompt will appear.
Name the WAVE audio file you want to convert the ASCII text file into. Press the “OK” button on the Save File prompt.
Press the “Play” button in Guitar Pro. This is the green arrow button in the top toolbar. You can also press the space bar on the keyboard. The song stored in the ASCII file will begin to play. You must play the song in Guitar Pro for it to be converted into an audio file.
Wait for the song to finish playing. The ASCII text document will have finished being converted into a WAVE audio file.
