How to Use an R12 Dolly Cart

Musicians, especially drummers, often have a lot of heavy equipment to transport to and from venues and practice. Instead of throwing your back out or getting a hand from your bandmates like most drummers do, you can make transporting your equipment much easier by using a dolly cart. The R12 is a dolly cart manufactured by RocknRoller. It is the largest in a line of five dolly carts by RocknRoller, and if you are a drummer you can use an R12 to help move your equipment in a few easy steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Weigh your equipment. The R12 dolly cart has a weight capacity of 500 lbs. Make sure the equipment you are going to load does not exceed the weight capacity of the cart. Using a bath scale, weigh each piece of equipment and then add up the total weight. If the total is less than 500 lbs., it is safe to load your equipment onto the R12 dolly cart.

    • 2

Measure the length of your equipment. The R12 dolly cart, depending on its setup, can range in length from 34 inches to 52 inches. Before loading your equipment, use a tape measure to determine the length of your equipment to make sure it will fit.

    • 3

Check your tire pressure. The R12 dolly cart comes with two 10-by-3-inch pneumatic rear wheels and two 8-by-2.5-inch pneumatic front casters. Make sure the tires have adequate air pressure. Using a tire pressure gauge, check the pressure of each tire. Air pressure between 30 and 35 psi should allow your cart to function properly.

Load your equipment. Once you have completed the preliminary checks you can load all of your equipment onto the R12 dolly cart. Use some rope or straps to secure your equipment. Once the equipment is secure, use the front and rear bars to push or pull the cart.
