Calculate how many CDs you want to store and decide where the organizer will be placed. Measure the area where the organizer will be placed. Using these calculations, measure with a tape measure three pieces of wood of the same length. Cut these pieces of wood to size using a saw. These pieces will form the sides and bottom of your CD organizer.
Use the same measurements to cut two additional pieces of wood for the back and top of your CD organizer. Exact sizes depend on how many CDs you have and the size of the area in which you want to keep your organizer.
Paint all wood pieces of wood with a color of your choice. Wait for the paint to dry, which will take at least 48 hours.
Squeeze a line of wood glue along the edge of one of the three side pieces, line it up with the back piece and press firmly. Wipe away any excess glue with a cloth.
Use a hammer to insert a nail at approximately every inch along the seam that joins the back and side piece together.
Squeeze a line of glue around the edge of the box and attach the final pieces of wood. Wipe away any excess glue. Hammer nails in around the edge, spacing them an inch apart.
Place your CDs, with spines facing outward, into the completed organizer.
