    • As of 2010 the Baltimore area has but one smooth jazz station, WEAA 88.9 FM. WEAA is a public radio station serviced (licensed and owned) through Morgan State University. According to its web site, WEAA strives to educate and entertain by offering programming and music both culturally diverse and artistic. WEAA touts itself as the leading provider of jazz, news and public affairs in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas.

    Award-Winning Programs

    • WEAA was founded in January 1977 and prides itself on being "on air" 24 hours a day, 365 days a years. In 1999, Gavin Magazine named WEAA the Jazz Station of the Year for its blend of contemporary jazz, gospel and reggae along with its innovative public affairs programming

    Audience

    • The station claims as its audience business and community leaders as well as black residents in the 25 to 54 age group. The mostly male audience (64 percent) is comprised of professionals with household incomes exceeding $50,000.
