How to Load Records Into a Seeburg Jukebox

Seeburg jukeboxes were first developed in the mid-30s. The coin-operated machine stacked records inside an upper compartment, to be released from a metal spindle arm and dropped onto a turntable with each inserted coin. Popular Seeburg models include the Gem, the Casino and the Symphonola. Seeburg, which incorporated the first light bulbs and plastic tubing into rim jukebox cases, remains a highly prized jukebox manufacturer with collectors and fans of nostalgia.

Instructions

  1. Loading a Seeburg Jukebox

      Locate the record track at the front of the machine. Turn the jukebox on.

      Push the letter "K" from the jukebox selection buttons and the number 9 from the jukebox number selection buttons at the same time.

      Wait for the record carriage to move to the right side of its track. If working properly, the carriage track will stop at your K-9 selection.

      Turn off the jukebox. Load as many records into this position as record slots are available. Be sure to load the records so the side you want to play, also called the "hit side," is facing left of you.

      Turn the jukebox back on. Open the jukebox back door. Set the volume of your jukebox according to the size of the room and whether the jukebox will be played at parties and other social gatherings or at smaller, more intimate functions. Adjust the bass and treble knobs to your listening preferences. Close and lock the jukebox back door.
