How to Find Sites for 40s & 50s Music

Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Bill Haley and Elvis Presley are all music stars from the '40s and '50s. A variety of websites give you the ability to listen to music from these decades for free. These websites are especially convenient for individuals who cannot access oldies music via radio. Learning which songs and artists were the most popular during the '40s and '50s allows you to create a list of songs and albums that you can eventually download or purchase at a local store.

      Go to the Live 365 "Oldies" Web page. Click on the "40s" or "50s" link at the top of the page. A list of different Internet radio stations appears beneath the links. Click on one of those links to begin listening to the 40s/50s radio station.

      Visit the AOL Radio "Oldies" page. Click "'40s Oldies" to begin playing that particular station. Click the "'50s Oldies" link to start playing that station.

      Listen to '40s and '50s music on the Music of Your Life website. Music of Your Life broadcasts '40s, '50s and '60s music 24 hours a day. Fill out the information on the Registration Web page. Once you have registered an account, enter the account information in the "Username" and "Password" boxes on the right side of the Registration Web page to begin listening.

      Visit the "1940s Music" and "1950s Music" pages on the "Tune Charts" website. This website lists a brief description of music from those decades. Click the "1940s Music/1950s Music" links on the right side of the page to find music charts for each year of those two decades. Click any of the "Music Charts" links and the music chart opens in the middle of the page.
