The Spider II HD75 offers 75 watts of musical power. Since the Spider II HD75 is only the head of an amplifier, you will need cabinet speakers to play with it. Line 6 offers cabinet speakers to go with the Spider II, but many other speaker cabinets are also compatible with it. You can also connect the amp to other external speaker sources, such as via a computer for amplification.
The Spider II HD75 has the option for direct-in recording, which allows you to directly plug your amplifier into your computer or recording device. This is a beneficial feature for recording quietly, and it prevents background noise on your recordings. Since the amplifier also comes with a variety of effects built in, there's no need for expensive and cumbersome external effect pedals when recording.
Amp settings with the Spider II HD75 are highly customizable and user friendly. When first purchased, the amp comes with four presets: Clean, Crunch, Metal and Insane. Clean is the standard un-effected setting to get a basic guitar tone. Crunch is a slightly distorted tone that offers a more old-school rock and roll sound. Metal has more distortion than crunch and offers a tone similar to many modern metal rock bands. Insane has the maximum distortion.
Several effects are pre-programmed into the Spider II HD75, including phaser, chorus/flanger, tremolo, sweep echo, tape echo, and reverb. These effects are also stackable, allowing you to use several of them at the same time.
The Spider II HD75 offers the option of a foot pedal to change channels when playing. Line 6 offers several different pedal models going from a basic switcher to a fully programmable pedal. There are also additional ports, including headphones and CD/MP3 inputs.
