Promote a DJ at their events with a mixed CD of the DJ's work. A mixed disc is a recording of different songs the DJ spins and saves to a CD. A mixed disc could have a theme, where one style of music is presented, or else a variety of different genres could be represented. This a creative way to promote the DJ by providing fans and potential customers samples of the DJ’s music and style. Make copies of the mixed CD and pass them out during the DJ’s set.

Promote a DJ through networking on social websites. Sign up at websites that pertain to music and DJs. Social networking is a popular way for people to gather information about the music they enjoy. A social website can help build a DJ's fan base and can help promote the DJ to new music venues. MySpace offers a DJ page where the DJ's shows and events can be posted as well as music streams, blogs, photos and videos. There are several social websites that gear towards musicians and disc jockeys. Use a search engine such as Google or Yahoo to locate music social websites.

Eventful.com, for instance, allows its members to post events for free; however, for a fee members can promote events through the website's online newsletter. Use a search engine such as, Google or Yahoo to locate websites that allow you to post local DJ events.

Create fliers and postcards about the DJ. The DJ flier should have information on where the DJ will spin, the type of music the DJ will play and contact information. Before an event, post flyers throughout the area where the DJ will spin. Make an inventory of business that allow anyone to post flyers and speak with the manager or owner. The DJ postcard should have information about the DJ including types of music the DJ spins, the DJ’s website, podcast information and booking information. During and after a DJ’s events, pass out the DJ postcard to customers.

Promote a DJ online and build the DJ’s popularity with a podcast. Have your DJ to download each of his sets into a MP3 file and upload them to a podcast hosting site. Podomatic.com offers free podcasting to its members, plus a paid membership with more bandwidth and storage, plus website design tools and detailed information on who has looked at and download the DJ’s podcast.
