How to Print Logos on a Blank CD

Printing on a CD is generally not done on personal CDs. Instead, thin paper labels are applied to the top of the CD surface. These labels can be purchased pre-cut on sheets with a template. This allows you to use any design software or hand drawing to make a custom label, which is printed out and pressed onto the blank CD. Complete label kits come with a push-down applicator.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a label template in your design program of choice. Use Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, InDesign or any other program you are familiar with.

    • 2

Drag and place your graphics and text of choice around the area of the template.

    • 3

Adjust and modify all elements as you would in any design file. Preview your work.

    • 4

Insert a die-cut label sheet into your printer. Print your labels on this sheet.

    • 5

Peel off a die-cut label and place it on the top side of a CD (the side with printing on it). Use a specialized applicator if your CD label kit has one.

    • 6
A commercial CD label maker prints the label directly on the CD/DVD surface.

Press the label firmly onto the CD surface to ensure there are no air bubbles or loose edges.
