ASCAP and BMI will review your application. They are interested in songwriters whose work has the potential for being performed in public concert venues or on various media.

      Register as a writer, publisher or as a writer and publisher. Registering with ASCAP is free for writers and publishers. Registering as a writer with BMI is free, however, the fee is $150 for individual publishers and $250 for publishing partnerships.

      Keep track of your quarterly statements. ASCAP and BMI will send you a quarterly statement and royalty check each quarter.
