Remove your guitar strings by turning the tuning pegs on the neck counterclockwise until you can unthread the strings from the guitar. The bottom portion of the strings are held in place by a screw or a clamp. Unscrew the clamp or screw to remove the strings entirely from the guitar.
Place waterproof gloves on your hands to reduce the possibility of getting the alcohol on your skin.
Fill a bucket with one inch of denatured alcohol.
Place the guitar strings in the alcohol and let them sit for 24 hours. After that time, wipe them off with a dry cloth and the rust will be removed.
