What is the sound source in a flute?

In a flute, the sound source is a stream of air directed across a sharp edge called the embouchure hole. This stream of air creates a disturbance in the surrounding air, resulting in the production of sound waves. The pitch of the sound produced is determined by the size and shape of the flute's bore, as well as the speed and angle of the air stream. The player controls these factors by varying the amount and direction of their breath, as well as the position of their fingers on the instrument's keys or holes.
