Why did maroon 5 name their band 5?

The band's name does not originate from the members being five in number. Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Ryan Dusick formed Kara's Flowers in 1994, and after they recorded four studio albums without achieving mainstream success, they shifted to a new musical style and changed the band's name to Maroon 5. The number 5 was chosen simply because they "liked the way it looked."
