Do you have to remove your retainers when playing the trumpet?

It depends on the type of retainer you have and the advice of your orthodontist.

- For removable retainers, you will typically need to remove them when playing a wind instrument, including the trumpet. Leaving them in can obstruct the airflow and affect the sound you produce.

- If you have permanent retainers fixed behind your teeth (lingual retainers), you may not need to remove them, as they are less likely to interfere with your playing. However, it's still advisable to consult your orthodontist for their guidance.

It's essential to follow your orthodontist's instructions regarding your retainers and instrument playing to avoid causing damage to your teeth or retainers.
