Where is the spit valve on a flute?

There is no spit valve on a flute. Flutes have a drain hole which is located on the underside of the flute, near the footjoint. Players will periodically drain moisture from the instrument during performance by covering the drain hole and flicking the keys. Flutes do not have a traditional spit valve like some other wind instruments.
