What is angel trumpet?

Angel's Trumpet, or Brugsmansia, is a genus of seven species of flowering plants from South America in the nightshade family, Solanaceae.

- They are popular ornamental plants, cultivated primarily for their large, fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom at night.

- All parts of these shrubs or small trees are highly toxic due to their content of several active chemicals.

- These psychoactive components, including scopolamine, atropine, and hyoscyamine, have a long history of traditional and ritualistic applications but are dangerous and can cause severe medical issues, hallucinations, delirium, memory loss, paralysis, seizures, and even life-threatening respiratory crises when misused or ingested carelessly.

- Hence, utmost caution and responsible handling are crucial if angel trumpets are cultivated for aesthetic purposes only.
