Was the guitar invented during modern period?
The guitar is a musical instrument that has existed in various forms for many centuries. The earliest known stringed instruments resembling the modern guitar were the "vihueala" of 15th century Spain and the Portuguese guitar. The modern guitar we know today, however, with its six strings and distinct shape, is believed to have been developed during the Renaissance and Baroque periods in Europe, which range from the 14th century to the late 1700s. Therefore, the guitar was not invented during the modern period, but rather emerged during the earlier historical periods mentioned.
