What is pinsak instrument?
Pinsak or Pinchak also known as pincak is an end-blown flute instrument used by the Malays in the state of Kelantan, Malaysia and also southern Thailand. It is made of bamboo, and is similar in shape to the suling instrument, but smaller in size. The pinsak is usually about 30–40 cm in length and has six finger holes, one thumb hole, and a metal plate at the bottom to amplify the sound. It is played by blowing air into the top end of the instrument while covering and uncovering the holes with the fingers to create different notes. The pinsak is traditionally used to accompany Malay dances, such as the joget, zapin and makyung, and is also used in traditional Malay orchestras.
