1. Thumb Lead:
- Alternate picking with your thumb by moving it down and up.
2. Frailing/Clawhammer:
- Use the nail of your index or middle finger to 'frail' the string (downward motion) and the fleshy (fleshy) part of the same finger to 'hammer' the string (upward motion).
3. Thumb Brush:
- Slide your thumb across the strings from your index finger towards your pinky finger.
4. Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs:
- Hammer-On: Play a fretted note by tapping it with your finger without picking the string.
- Pull-Off: Play a fretted note by pulling your finger off the string.
5. Slides and Glisses:
- Slide: Move your finger smoothly along a fretted string to change the pitch.
- Gliss: Move your finger quickly along the string to create a fast slide.
6. Strumming:
- Use a down-up motion with your picking hand to strum the strings.
7. Syncopation and Timing:
- Create interesting rhythms by emphasizing off-beat notes and syncopating your strokes.
Start by slowly practicing these techniques and coordinating them with your left-hand fingering. As you become more comfortable, gradually increase your speed and work on more complex patterns and melodies.
