While piccolo and flute both belong to the woodwind family, they are different instruments with different ranges, fingerings, and embouchures. Piccolos are smaller than flutes and play at a higher pitch, and piccolo music is notated differently than flute music. Therefore, it is not recommended to use flute books to learn or play the piccolo.
