How do you decide if a soprano mezzo or alto without using music notes?

Soprano:

- Bright, high-pitched voice

- Often has a light and airy quality

- Can sing high notes with ease

Mezzo-soprano:

- Medium-range voice

- Has a richer, fuller sound than a soprano

- Can sing both high and low notes

Alto:

- Low-pitched voice

- Has a dark and resonant quality

- Can sing low notes with ease

To determine your vocal range:

- Sing a scale from the lowest note you can comfortably sing to the highest note you can comfortably sing.

- The note that falls in the middle of your range is your "middle voice."

- If your middle voice is in the soprano range, you are a soprano.

- If your middle voice is in the mezzo-soprano range, you are a mezzo-soprano.

- If your middle voice is in the alto range, you are an alto.
