What materials are used to make a clarinet?

Clarinets are traditionally made from wood, most commonly grenadilla. Grenadilla, also known as African blackwood, is a dense and durable hardwood that produces a rich, warm sound. Other types of wood used include rosewood, cocobolo, and maple. In recent years, clarinets made from synthetic materials such as resin or hard rubber have also become popular due to their durability and affordability. The keys and mechanisms of clarinets are typically made from metal, usually nickel-plated silver or gold-plated brass.
