The original Cry Baby Wah circuit incorporates fixed and variable inductor coils and photocells. Some guitarists feel that such old-school passive circuitry introduces significant amounts of noise, alters the guitar's original high-end signal and can sound "muffled."
Some also consider the Crybaby wah pedal to be more of a one-trick pony. While it is capable of producing its signature "wah-wah" sounds, it may not offer the versatility or variety of tones compared to other wah pedals that feature additional controls and modes.
