How do you convert tenor saxophone notes to trombone notes?
There is no direct correlation between tenor sax and trombone note conversion. Although they’re both brass instruments in the same key with ranges that closely align, the instruments differ in length and tube structure to create their unique timbres, and thus play in the same concert key (Bb major). Trombone fingerings also don’t match the sax because there is an extra section of tubing called the slide. You will need to practice reading tenor sax music transposed to Bb with the correct fingerings for trombone.
