Music engineering is the process of recording and reproducing music. Music engineering plays an important role in the production of music and can make or break a band live or on a recording. Music engineering is a big part of the music industry and there are many types of music engineers in the music industry, from those who provide live sound in performance venues to those responsible for designing the audio equipment used at these venues.

    • Music engineering also consists of the design and development of all kinds of audio equipment. Music engineers design sound systems for everything from small clubs to stadiums. Music engineers design the equipment that recording and live sound engineers end up using, including microphones, sound boards and compressors. Music engineering also consists of the design and development of audio listening and playback devices, from stereo systems to personal listening devices like MP3 players.
